FILM RESTORATION SERVICE

8mm / 9.5mm / 16mm film contain an enormous amount of information. Regardless of the age or condition of the film, the right people using the right technology (frame-by-frame digital capture, wetgate, software) can dramatically restore aged / damaged film to better than "true".

Our film scanning technology uses an LED array to illuminate the film and is completely sprocketless employing archival-grade (PTR) rollers to transport and physically clean the film before running it though the built-in wetgate. The wetgate system provides an additional mechanism for cleaning the film by applying a film cleaner solution (Isopropanol) directly to the film which has the added benefit of filling in any cracks or lines in the film emulsion resulting in a significant improvement to the visual quality of the scanned film.

Once captured into an uncompressed digital file we apply custom film restoration software providing filters for dirt removal, stabilization, sharpening and de-graining.
